Creation for the 17th Lyon Biennale
Founded by chefs Lukas Mraz, Philip Rachinger and Felix Schellhorn, the Healthy Boy Band has developed a practice at the intersection of cuisine and visual expression, between fast food and haute cuisine, participatory installation and collective performance. Founders of Healthy Times magazine, creators of a ski-water made from melted snow and raspberry syrup, and organisers of a Goat Save The Queen evening, the group encourages indeterminacy and improvisation in its multi-disciplinary activities. With their penchant for collaboration and sharing, the collective often invites artists, designers, photographers, musicians and chefs to gather together and bend their wit to notions of originality, copying, influence and diversity in the culinary and artistic worlds. The collective works regularly with Public Possession, a platform created in 2012 by Valentino Betz and Marvin Schuhmann that explores the relationship between music, text, graphic design and happenings.
Working on the assumption that a café, a restaurant or a food truck are places where people can meet and open up to others, the Healthy Boy Band and Public Possession have joined forces to create Public Health Care, a project based on sustainable cuisine that preserves cultural and social diversity. In resonance with the history of the site, a former railway facility for repairing and overhauling locomotives, they have devised a hospitality and care space, where visitors are invited to eat carrots in honour of the Year of the Rabbit. A cross between performance and installation, Public Health Care celebrates commensality – the pleasure of sharing a table and the art of being together – through new forms of gastronomy and collective rites.

For the Biennale de Lyon 2024 the Healthy Boy Band and Public Possession offer a take on the current state of Hospitality.
For the running time of the Biennale a large table invites to sit down, talk, exchange, eat, drink & play.
Three vending machines provide fermented carrots with ginger and verbena and a carrot drink that the Healthy Boy Band & Public Possession created in collaboration with „Aqua Monaco“.
With these Snacks and accompanied by the graphics of Public Possession people can sit and take a break from the busy scenes of the exhibition halls.
